Salesforce Data Loader is free and solid for single-object CSV jobs on a desktop. Dataimporter is the cloud option when you need multi-object loads, lookups without Salesforce IDs, saved mappings, scheduling, integrations, preview, and rollback. No local install. Use Advanced options for batch size, API type, date formats, and delimiters when a job needs fine control.
Columns match to Salesforce fields by API name or label. Mapping is saved on the job, so you configure it once. When the file does not have Salesforce IDs, use lookup relationships to resolve parents such as Account on Contact. Preview before you load.

Load related objects in one job instead of separate CSVs. Typical patterns: Accounts then Contacts, Campaigns then Campaign Members, Opportunities then Opportunity Products. Set relationship keys and processing order so parents load before children. If a child fails, you can see what broke without rebuilding the whole spreadsheet workflow.
